If you missed the title in big and bold letters above, I'll spare you the trouble of having to find it and just tell you that we at the Azcari Adventure Centre will be sponsoring Craig Bounds' new rally bike.

The bike in question is of course the Husqvarna TE630. I road it once and nearly cancelled my oxygen subscription, but I'm sure in the capable hands of Craig Bounds (he's competed in 3 Dakar's!) it will more than deliver. The fact that he's chosen the TE630 speaks volumes for the bike. This could potentially put it on the map.

They don't get much newer that this really. Fresh off the truck.

With caution, the Azcari team let the beast out its cage. Thankfully the tranquilizers were still working.

The team worked quickly to get the Husky up onto the bench.

Nothing like a bit team to work to make a plan come together.

I'm looking forward to heading off to a few of the up coming rallies with my camera and getting some excellent shots. I've drawn the short straw with the last few events and had to stay behind and man the fort. NOT ANYMORE! It my turn to ~~have some fun~~ do some field work. We can get some nice posters for the shop too.

Of course we'll be following Craig's progress closely and keeping everyone updated via the blog. So make sure you keep popping in to see what's new. I'll be updating and spreading word via the Facebook page too.

Craig's first race is the Rydale Rally in Yorkshire this weekend. You can check out some info > here <.

We wish him and all the best and hope does well. Will be good to get some feedback on the bike and hear how it performed.

Although technically speaking, I didn't actually go anywhere.

Greetings from not so sunny Dorking.

For those of you following the Azcari Adventure Centre via Facebook, you'd know that the boss was recently in Spain taking part in the Pyrkneesup. I'd like to say that I was able to tag along and get some awesome photos and video footage for the blog but it was not to be. Someone had to stay behind and work.

I was that someone.

Don't feel too sorry for me though, I've got my summer holiday coming up in a few weeks. Oh yes! Going to be class.

Not here to talk about my summer holiday though. My task for today is to upload a few photos from the event. If you're doing the Horizons Unlimited Mountain Madness aka HUMM this year, then this is taster of what's in store.

So I just had a look at the last entry on the blog...the 15th of May? That's pretty bad. In my defence I've been REALLY busy (working or riding bikes?). I'll have to get my game face back on and keep this blog as fresh as possible.

OK, just found my game face. Was in a box upstairs. Knew I'd left it somewhere. Maybe I should glue it on.

Yeah, not sure that was the smartest thing I've ever done but there you go. It's either a stroke of genius or a touch of madness. Is there much of a difference?

Things in the Azcari workshop have been ticking along nicely and I couldn't help but notice the eclectic collection of bikes we've had passing through lately. I'm just trying to think back. I think the fist batch were the AJPs from the EMP Enduro gang. What else have we had, a little Husky Boy 50cc, a few Vespa's, a Suzuki SV650, which looks like it could be fun to ride. I've not really had much experience with road bikes. Only when I did my CBT. It's something I'll have to remedy very soon.

It will make commuting from London a lot easier for one thing. No more trains and buses. The boss has also offered me the use of his BMW 650 Dakar. How can I turn down an offer like that? I can't. Another reason is the impending holiday to Crete. 2 weeks in the sun! It's a hard life I tell you. There looks to be some decent riding on the island and quite a few places offering bike hire.

I'd have to say the word dominating my thought pattern right now is awesome.

No more gloating. Oh wait, did I mention my Klim Dakar riding pants came in the post? No? OK, well best not to then. I know...but I don't own a bike and I've only just started hooking up some gear. So every new addition to my arsenal deserves a mention. I'll do my best not to though. I do actually want people to read this blog.

Back to the bikes. At this very moment we have two, no 3, beast bikes in the workshop. One is a Harley Davidson something something. A monster if ever there was one. Think I've torn, ruptured and slipped a few things getting it in and out of the shop. Still, it looks a mighty machine. And the noise is mind blasting. One to tick off the list no doubt. I'll try get a few shots tomorrow when all the bikes are out front.

Speaking of bikes out front, remind me to tell you a story later.

The other bike newly arrived is a Honda Africa Twin. A bike that has lived up to its name. How you ask.
Well by traveling through Africa of course. London to Cape Town. EPIC! I think for me, that would be the ultimate mission. Hit up the book and check out some of the photos. Epicosity! That's pretty epic. We've also just had a bike (Yamaha WR250) serviced that's heading off to Spain for the Pyreknees up. Lucky fish. The boss is attending again this year. All for work of course and he's promised not to have any fun. I plan to hold him to that. I'm sure you'll hear all about in the next few weeks.

We've got an ex Simon Pavey off road school BMW looking well battered but I've been informed it's purely cosmetic, which is just as well. I took the 125 demo husky up to the jumps at Headley last week and it came back in pretty much the same condition. And that was after my mouthful of petrol. I recommend you try at least once in your life. Once I'd regained the ability to breathe the buzz was actually pretty good. Still, burping petrol fumes all day and crashing into just about everything I could was an excellent way to spend the day. I quote my good friend Albert - "If you're not crashing, you're not learning". True story.

Well, I've rambled on for long enough. It's been fun being back on the blog. A virtual soap box. My game face is glued on so I wont tell the ball drop on this again. I still owe you that story and I didn't even give the KTM its moment in the spotlight but tomorrow is another day and right now my stomach is asking a question that needs answering.

We've got ours so you should have no excuse. It promises to be an excellent few days.

Just look at the amazing films being shown. I'm pretty keen to see First Overland, shot in 1955.

So I attempted to make a video a while back of our ride out during the royal wedding.
Not the greatest but it was the first go and I think it did pretty well to capture the day.

Was a bit reluctant to share this but you have to start somewhere.I'll admit the music is pretty dodgy but it turns out Youtube have it under lock down when trying to use the music of your choice. Needless to say the free music is pretty poor.

Having said that, spending the day riding bikes and having fun was a small price to pay for the frustration of trying to make a decent clip. I've learned a lot so I plan to get better withe every video I make. Have loads more ideas for the next one.

Have a look for yourself though, I'll let you be the judge.

We have a new member joining the Azcari family this week and I for one am ecstatic.

The newest demo bike is the Husqvarna TE125 2011. And because I have my CBT I'll actually be able to ride it. Excellent! It could also be the perfect bike for the guided trail riding/training we plan to offer. I think there's going to be a royal rumble to see who gets to ride it first. If I'm the poor sod sent to the DVLA then I think it's only fair I get the first ride. We'll see though.

If you want to test ride it yourself then please come on down. I'll let you know when it actually gets here. This is a perfect learner legal motorbike and a good way to get your feet wet in the world of off-road and trail riding.

Guided Trail Ride with Azcari Adventure Centre

Unless you live under a rock, under an even bigger rock, then you will know that last Friday was the royal wedding. While millions around the world tuned in there were a brave few who dared to defy the masses and instead went trail riding. Gentlemen (and lady) I salute you!

It was an early start for this blogger as I made my way down to Dorking from the big smog. Coffee and a bacon roll helped but not much, the book did it's best to put me back to sleep and it was only hopping on the back of the husky TE630 and then nearly falling off that really did the job. Nothing like a bit of adrenaline and the fear off death to stir you from your slumber.

Vast amounts of tea, coffee and muffins were consumed as we waited for everyone to arrive. I did my best eat them all but having to shoot video and photos kept me pretty occupied. I did shoot quite a few interior shots though. Anyway . . . once the motley crew was assembled the boss gave a quick briefing about the ride out and the plans for the day.

While everyone was kitting up Nick and I made last minute checks on our set up. We'd been given the job of capturing the day via photo and video. With everything strapped down and accounted for we set off. It didn't take long for me to have flashbacks of the day's earlier ride from the station we were both pretty sure that at some stage we were going crash. Luckily that never happened and it even got to the point where we were enjoying the ride. I've got some footage on video but still have to master the editing software. It's coming though,

After a few false alarms (push bikes, farmers and walkers) the guys finally hit the trail and we responded with a flurry of photos and video. A mouthful of dust later and we were off to the next trail.

I learned a few things on the back of the bike during the course of the day. One was how fond bugs were of flying up my nose. Pretty fond if I'm honest. I got nailed a few times. It's not as fun as it sounds, believe me. Another was that when you accept that you might not make it back alive you should relax and try enjoy what time you have left. I have to say Surrey really is a beautiful county. As the sun woke up and decided to join the party it made it that much better. A touch of class.

Another trail and even more dust - thanks for that Vincent - and we headed for the river crossing in Watermill Lane. Everybody made it across much to my disappointment. I know you shouldn't laugh at others but it would have been a little bit funny. I also had the video camera set up and it would have made for some excellent footage. Instead I'm forced to say job well done, especially to the guys who'd never done off-roading before and on some monster bikes no less. If it makes you feel any better my first trail ride resulted in a tasty crash. So feel free to point and laugh as much as you like.

After that we headed off to Shere for lunch. A tasty burger and coke where prehaps not what the doctor would have ordered but I certainly did. A well deserved treat after all the bugs and dust. Needless to say it vanish rather quickly. A pub worth checking out if you're ever in the area.

Once we'd had our fill we hit the road and went in search of more trails. By now the sun was blazing, the wedding was over and we were all in good spirits.

And like all good things it had to eventually come to an end. I don't think anyone was too unhappy about it as the day - in my humble opinion - had been a massive success. All the feedback we got was really positive and hope we see a lot of the guys back for more trail riding.

For those of you who have to to experience the awesomeness of it, I can tell you that is very addictive. So much so that after everyone had said their goodbyes and headed off into the sunset, the 4 of us went back out and hit the trails again. I even got to ride a bike myself!

Muuuuuch better than sitting on the back of a bike. Oh yes! I really like the fact that when you're out there on your bike, that's all you think about. Your head gets freed from all the clutter. It's actually quite calming in a way. You come back form a ride feeling really relaxed. I know one of the main reasons for me getting my license was so that I could at least have something in common with customers when they came into the shop and started talking all things motorbikes, but let it be know that I'm hooked. There's no turning back for me now. Direct access and then trans Africa awaits.

A massive thanks to everyone who came along for the ride out, including the guys from Vines Motorrad. It was the first of many and I hope you enjoyed it. You're apart of Azcari history now. You can say you were the first. I can guarantee you though, you won't be the last. Onwards and upwards.

Royal Wedding Ride Out - Friday 29th April 2011

So Friday sees the arrival of the royal wedding, and while most of the nation will be glued to the telly watching, we most certainly will not. We're having our first big trail bike ride around the Surrey hills. A few of the BMW Vines Guilford crew will be joining us and they've sent word out to some of their customers as well. So it promises to be a good day. If I'm lucky I'll be able to tag along with the cameras and get some images and footage of the day. Would make for some excellent blog content.

If you're keen for a bit of fun and want to get your GS, KTM, Honda, Yamaha or Triumph nice and dirty then feel free to join us. We'll be leaving from the Azcari Adventure Centre at 10:00 so get there early and have a coffee on us.

And as I'm writing this the big boss man has returned. He's been out "working" and plotting the route for Friday's ride. Looks like it's going to be a good one. I've just been informed that the route will be a pretty easy one don't worry too much about getting your big bike stuck in a rut or the fact that you're using road tyres.

Azcari Adventure Centre - Official Opening 09.04.11

So it been quite the weeks for firsts. For example - this is the first time I'm blogging about our opening day on Saturday. I also passed my CBT first time last Thursday. And yesterday racked up a couple more firsts with a trail ride and a crash. Both were excellent by the way.

So lets start with Saturday and then I'll work my way through the list.

As you can see we could not have picked a more perfect day. The weather gods finally smiled on us and gave us a sunny weekend. There were moments when it felt like I was back in South Africa, ~~beer~~ camera in hand and sun on my face. Lekker nice! So I've been trying to get this done all day every time I try, something else happens. The doors are shut, the sun is down and the last minute brochure is finished. Shall I tempt fate and try finish this post? I think yes.

Another first for our list I forgot to mention, we made our first few Husqvarna sales. Very nice indeed. Hope there are many more to come. There were a few test rides on Saturday and everyone seemed to enjoy the bikes. Our web designer was one of them. And as you can see from below, he was so impressed he bought 3 on the spot . . . in cash. Thanks Lee! Not only do you stop me from deleting/destroying the Azcari site, you also support the shop.

As the masses waited eagerly for the chicken curry to arrive there was plenty of time to talk all things adventure. Amongst the crowd was Mark Kirby, on his Honda Africa Twin, who plans to ride from Chertsey in London to Chennai in India this September.

If that wasn't enough, he and 3 others plan to do so on classic Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycles. Further still, these guys are raising awareness and funds for the White Lodge Centre. If you can, please take a few extra minutes and read a bit more about this challenging and noble cause. The Azcari crew wishes you well guys.

Nick Plumb from Touratech was also there. As was Robert Wicks who was signing copies of his Adventure Motorcycle books. Vines Guilford also brought down a few of the new BMW's to display.

I can tell you that the food was well worth the wait. I ate it all day and then took a tub home and ate till it eventually ran out on Sunday night. I wish it had been an infinity tub. Everlasting chicken curry . . . hmmmmm.

Where was I? Ah yes, the open day. I don't really want to rattle on too much as I really need to get this uploaded and I every time I look at my to do list, it keeps getting longer. Overall though, I think the day was a massive success. There was a really good turn out, which I think I was worried about the most. So if you are reading this and you came to show support - high five. Actually make that a high 10! And of course many thanks. It's still early days so hang in there and you'll see much more happening at the centre. We're only going to get better and bigger. Better at what we do and bigger in terms of where we take the centre and the things we can offer.

The trouble with an open day is you're never sure who's going to turn up. More often than not you have a few trouble makers and true to form they arrived. They pretty much trashed the place and gave my brother a good beating. Luckily for me I has some back up. We managed to get them off the bikes and out the shop. I gave these photos to police so hopefully they'll catch them. If you see them be warned!

Yeah...think I'm having too much fun here. This is supposed to be a work blog. Woe betide he who enjoys blogging at work. I'm going to sign off now and leave you with few more images from the day.

Husqvarna TE630 - Azcari's newest demo bike.

3 . . . is the magic number. That's right folks. The newest addition to our demo family is none other than the Husqvarna TE630. And it is truly is a sight to behold. Just take a look for yourself.

I have a feeling she won't be on the showroom floor for very long.

Husqvarna TE 630

The Husqvarna TE 630 is a new addition to the Dual Purpose Husqvarna range and is launched into a particularly interesting segment of the motorcycle market; 600 cc single-cylinder four-stroke on/off-road bikes.

Based on the new SM 630, the Husqvarna TE 630 benefits from having many parts in common with the smaller capacity racing four stroke Enduro Husqvarna models. The new machine sits in the range alongside the proven WRE 125 and these two bikes are the only models by themanufacturer who has won the title of off-road champion 78 times, to sit neatly in the dualpurpose sector: bikes that will take you anywhere.

With the new TE 630, Husqvarna intends to broaden the appeal of the range to include those less competition-minded riders who use their bikes every day and need more comfort and practicality but want to combine this with the thrill of owning a race bike.

Combining the look and character of a racing bike with performance perfect for daily use on or off-road, the new TE 630 is perfect for those riders who want a bike with muscle but also class. It is without any doubt the best example of how a racing off-roader can be transformed into a road going machine.

The new Husqvarna TE happily took up the challenge of racing and in the last Italian Championship Motorally and Marathon Raid it just won in the "Marathon" category for production bikes, the category Husqvarna dominated also in 2009.

The superlative engine is highly tractable even at low to medium revs thanks to its 600 cc capacity achieved by increasing the bore from 98 mm to 100 mm. The DOHC head with a red painted rocker cover like those on our racing bikes is inherited from the Husqvarna competition 450/510 engine and this permits a 20% increase in power over the earlier 576 cc version.

The TE 630 has an electronic fuel injection system developed in collaboration with Mikuni. The engine features a 45 mm throttle body with the fast idle control on the handlebars and there is now a 300 Kpa Mitsubishi "twin jet" fuel injector fitted to the throttle. The pressure regulator (3 Bar) regulates any return of excess fuel to the tank and the MAQS (Modularised Air Quantity Sensor) consists of air temperature, mapping and TPS (Throttle Position) sensors.
The Kokusan 360W three-phase ignition flywheel is also new.

The water temperature sensor is on the cylinder head: the injection system unit processes the signal from the sensor and controls the operation of the cooling fan on the right water radiator according to engine temperature. The bike has a completely new cooling system with a new impeller and water pump body.

The clutch is now controlled hydraulically and the left engine case has been redesigned. New components include a petrol tank with a 40l/h pump and a capacity of 12 l; the non-return fuel circuit has quick-fit connections for ease of removal.

The exhaust system on the four-stroke single cylinder engine has a "closed loop" lambda probe and twin aluminium exhaust silencers. The catalyser has been redesigned and optimised to easily meet Euro 3 requirements. The silencers, which also play an important role aesthetically, giving the bike an aggressive look, are covered with stainless steel guards in the catalyser and passenger foot peg area.

The suspension system consists of 45mm Marzocchi forks with rebound damping adjustment mated with a Sachs rear shock absorber.

The 2011 version of the TE 630 will have Magura tapered handlebars with new steering head clamps and no cross bar.

In honour of this glorious Monday, I think it best we kick things off with a classic...

Aaah, nothing like a bit of Bob to start the day and distract from the fact that the weekend is over and another Monday is upon us. I hope the gods smile kindly on me and let this weather last till at least lunch time so I can catch a few rays for myself. Chicken soup for the soul. Growing up in Africa, you tend to take this kind of weather for granted. Not anymore!

So a good morning to you all.

Just wanted to touch base and remind you all of the big day coming up this Saturday. For those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about, don't worry, I'm about to remind you. The Azcari Adventure Centre has its official opening! It promises to be an excellent day, so I hope you're going to make an appearance. Things will kick off at about 9-10am and last throughout the day. I'll be there doing a little bit of everything but most of the time I'll be hiding behind the camera capturing the happenings of the day.

It's been a hard slog getting here but we've made it. Seemed like the day would never come and now it's just around the corner. Hard work pays off I guess. It's pretty exciting to be honest, but then adventures always are.

Now just a few hundred more and I should be sorted. Oh wait, I've just added another tick to the list.

Book CBT - tick. Oh yeah! Thursday is the big day. Super stoked! Now I get to crash all the demo huskys and give the boss sleepless nights. Muhahahaha. Only joking boss man, I'll crash the AJP instead.

If you weren't here for Saturday's test run, when we had our soft opening, then now is your chance for redemption. Join us as we officially open the Azcari Adventure Centre. The joy of blogging.

Don't ask me how - because I have absolutely no clue - but I somehow managed to lock myself out of my g mail account. It's not too much of a train smash as I don't use it that often, but I did use that e-mail account to register the new blog. I've filled out the forms (more than once) and sent Google a DNA sample but they still seem to want more information before they let me back in. It seems my password didn't like me anymore and just decided to change without telling me.

So welcome to the newer than new Azcari blog. I have a feeling that now I've started a new blog, Google will send me a password and all this will have been in vain. If I'm looking for a positive here...the only one I can find is that at least this has happened now and not a year into the blog. OK, so guess I better get this blog populated with some content.

'Ready to Ride' has all the core motorcycling issues covered at 'Ride it Right' we will also have all of the exhibitors that you would expect to find, the show is aimed at any rider - whether novice or experienced - who wants to further develop their riding skills, the maintenance of their bike and the knowledge of what to do in the unlikely event of an accident. This is all presented in an informal and relaxed environment by experts in their relevant field and includes ... Team Azcari...Vines of Guilford...EPM Enduro Club...and a whole host of others.

As the poster says, we're the new kids on the block. It's new, exciting and a worthy cause. What a combo! Make sure you get yourself down there for the day. It promises to be a good one.

The Adventure Travel Film Festival 2011

The Adventure Travel Film Festival is the brainchild of film-maker Austin Vince and travel author Lois Pryce.

Here’s how it all came about…

‘Over the last ten years or so we have been sent tons of fantastic travel films from all over the world by largely unknown film-makers. They came from all over the globe and covered every form of transport – boats, bicycles, buses, motorcycles, 4×4s and even hitch-hiking and train-hopping. The ‘adventure travel’ shows we saw on TV, although polished and professional, were nothing in comparison to the real-life dramas that were arriving in our letterbox.

As time passed we gradually realised that we were accruing a fairly extensive and possibly, definitive, collection of adventure travel films. It occurred to us that this had to be the tip of an iceberg. Once we started searching actively, films came to the surface that were absolutely mind-blowing. We were amazed, and excited, that adventures of this quality, old and new, were essentially unknown by the public.
Our mission is to change all that.

Film festivals don’t usually have manifestos – so here’s ours!

To showcase the best independent adventure travel films ever made
To guarantee a platform for future adventure film-makers
To bring together the adventure travel community
We know that making a good film isn’t difficult – we will show you how
To have loads of fun while doing all the above!

Film festivals are usually based around cinema screens in cities. In the spirit of the event, the Adventure Travel Film Festival is based around two days of camping and good times in beautiful countryside.

Sitting in the office busy working on the new product landing pages for the site, which isn't a problem. The more I do, the less is there to be done. The problem is these call centre clowns. A persistent bunch. They rang again only two lines into this post. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!

Think I'm just going to start having some fun with these guys because it's not even midday and already my blood is boiling. Getting very keen to break something. I've attacked the laptop once before - a very expensive outburst - so think that one's off limits. Perhaps something needs hitting/kicking in the workshop.

Just needed to vent. I'll leave you an excellent clip of some people more or less going postal, office style. Enjoy!

So more good news on the bike front. We're awaiting the arrival of not one, but 2 triple black BMW R 1200 GS motorbikes. Hmmm...tasty! Just have a look for yourself.

So anyway, tomorrow promises to be a most excellent day indeed. From what I can gather, they're both getting a Touratech upgrade. Then one of them goes back to Vines of Guilford, and the other stays on our showroom floor for the grand opening on March 26th. If this thing looks like a beast now just wait till we're done with it...

So the new bikes arrived at the shop yesterday. And while they didn't quite fall off the back of a truck - which I guess isn't actually a bad thing - they did arrive by truck, and a big one at that. So 12 brand new bikes ready for the show room floor and ready for the big day on March 26th.

As nice as it would be to keep these for ourselves and just go ride everyday, we will actually be selling these fine machines. I'm sure there will be a test ride or 2 carried out though. One must know what one is selling after all. So if you want one, or know somebody who does, then keep the 26th of March free and you can come down and have a look.

BMW Vines Help for Heroes Charity Event - Feb 11

So it's a new year(although were already knocking on March's door) and and a new blog...and what better way to kick things off than with last night's excellent event at BMW Vines in Guilford. If raising money for a good cause like Help for Heroes wasn't a good enough reason to get out, the Q & A with Charley Boorman was a deal clincher. Ross Noble's auction antics were the icing on the cake.

Before you think what a charmed life Azcari leads, let me remind you that we were there for work and I've got the photographic evidence to prove it. And if you haven't already heard, Azcari are finally setting up shop, again, but this time it's the real deal. The Azcari Adventure Centre opens in March, in Dorking, Surrey. Another reason we were at the event. A bit of shameless self promotion never hurt. And as we've now become a stockist of Touratech it was a good chance for a show of solidarity.

Here is the gang hard at work. I told you I had proof! Nick Plumb (right) from Touratech hooked us up with a BMW F800 GS for the display. Needless to say it turned more than a few heads.

These two R 1200 GS BMW motorbikes got a fair amount of attention too. These are the bikes Charley Boorman used for the Long Way Round & Long Way Down motorbike adventures. They were most impressive beasts I might add. That would be an amazing way to arrive back home in Cape Town. Watch this space...*insert dream sequence here*.

OK, head out of the clouds and back to the business of blogging.

While the place was filling up and we all waited for things to kick off, we were lucky enough to fill our bellies with a most excellent curry provided by the London regiment of the Royal Fusiliers.

As good as the hot curry and Hogs Back beer was, the crowd were eagerly awaiting the arrival of Charley. Thankfully a full scale riot was averted and the masses appeased as the man in question arrived on stage.

As the chants of CHARLEY! CHARLEY! CHARLEY! died down, we all took to our seats and listened to the interesting, inspirational and hilarious stories Charley had to share with us. The talk covered everything from his time in Afghanistan to Long Way Round, Long way Down, Race to Dakar and By Any Means.

While some purists might have a go at these guys for the support crews they've had a along with them on their adventures you can't knock them for doing them. If anything, I'm envious of what these guys were able to do. I dream about doing stuff like this, and I still haven't even got my CBT. Something I'll have to remedy very soon if I'm going to be working at the adventure centre. I should at least be able to ride a bike, if not know then inside and out.

The Race to Dakar isn't exactly green laning through the Surrey country side. As we were made painfully aware by the story of Charley breaking both hands and having to pull out on day 5 of 15. I was lucky enough to get a copy of Race to Dakar and plan to get stuck into it soon. So yeah, hats off to anyone who undertakes adventures like these, supported or otherwise.

After the talk was over, a second treat was in store. An auction of some amazing items from a Satmap Active 10 Plus, donated by yours truly, haircuts at a top London salon to a hostile environment awareness course. All the money raised was for Help the Heroes so everyone was encouraged to go big, and thankfully they did not disappoint. Helping out with proceedings was comedian and fellow bike lover and adventurer Ross Noble.

While I was able to hide behind my camera, the guy next me had no such luck. As such, he was ripped to pieces, much to the amusement of the crowd. With limited time the auction got under way. Taking top billing was our Satmap GPS unit and the bidding was fierce.

Ross himself was really keen on the item and while others were also bidding he was in the end victorious with a most impressive bit of about £550.00. A most generous gesture in the name of good cause. Lets hope the unit does not disappoint. I'll see if I can get in touch with him at some point and find out how the unit is working for him.

Ross realises his bid on the Satmap is the winner and jokingly tries to do a runner off stage.

The other items were all an equal success and I think the hostile environment awareness course took the highest bid of about £800.00. Despite no takers on a flick of Charley Boorman's silicone ball, a very healthy amount of money was still raised. Well done all!

And to the right of your screen, a very happy Ross noble with his Satmap GPS, also signing books. He was also very generous with his time and I was pleasantly surprised at how down to earth both these guys were.

All in all the event was a massive success and I hope there are many more in the future. A big thanks to all of you who came otu and supported such a worthy cause and to Vines BMW for letting us show our support and also help spread the word of the Azcari Adventure Centre.
